The New Galaxy Grill

The Galaxy Grill,PuneGalaxy Grill, the rooftop restaurant of the Seasons hotel in Aundh, Pune is back in a new reincarnation. They now have a pan-European menu in a casually elegant setting that reminds you of a Parisian brasserie.

Wrought iron furniture, mosaic partitions and large cream colored umbrellas make for a pleasant ambiance under the night skies as you walk towards the restaurant across the swimming pool. Soft Western music and the aroma of grilled meats from the open kitchen adds to the experience even as you settle down.

Both the Broccoli and Blue Cheese soup and the Shrimp Chowder with bacon were good and refreshing in the cool winter night.

Pita Pizza at The Galaxy GrillFor my entree, I ordered the Chicken Piri Piri, a Portuguese delicacy. The dish was made chicken (bone-in and roasted in its skin like the real thing!) marinated with chillies and vinegar, grilled and served with roasted potatoes, onions and peppers. The dish was as fiery and delicious like I remember it. Loved it!

Ratatouille at The Galaxy GrillThe Spaghetti bolognaise was expertly prepared. Made with the classic minced lamb sauce the dish was both flavorful and tasty.

The rum-soaked interior with a layer of coffee mousse and dusted with coffee powder and chocolate, this dessert provided a great end to a good meal! The only grouse I had was with the wine tonight. Ordering by the glass is always fraught with risks, and never more than in Pune. The red wine had clearly been uncorked a day or two earlier and had lost its taste.

Tiramisu at The Galaxy GrillAs Pune transitions from a late monsoon season to its mild winter months, the evenings are just perfect for an open-air dining experience. And the Galaxy Grill may be just the place to do so, if you are in this side of town.

The Galaxy Grill is located in Seasons hotel in Aundh (right turn after the large Chroma showroom) on the rooftop. Please note: the restaurant only opens for dinner. Ph: 40009999, 40009888.

In other food news, Malaka Spice plans to introduce Malaysian street food at their Koregoan Park restaurant very soon. There will also be more restaurants in town with Amercian hotel chains adding to Pune's growing five-star hotels. Yes, we will have a new Hyatt Regency and two different Marriott hotels opening here in November.

The Galaxy Grill PuneThe Marriott Hotel & Convention Center in the ICC complex will have four new speciality restaurants: Spice Kitchen for all-day dining, Alto Vino for authentic Italian fare, Shakahari for Asian vegetarian food, and Pasha for kababs, dal and roti on the rooftop.

The Courtyard Pune City Center will open right next to Jehangir Hospital. In addition to MoMo Cafe (like its counterpart in the Hingewadi hotel), this hotel will be home to Red Zen, Pune's first noodle bar.

Finally, the Hyatt Regency on Nagar Road near the airport will have La Terrazza a home-style Italian trattoria and The Cafe for all-day dining.

Hi Shantanu

I am an avid reader of your blogs and being a foodie myself I can even feel the joy that you experience through your food adventures !

I lived very near Seasons and frequented their restaurants - particularly liked the Galaxy Grill for their open air ambience and greek food... looks like they have broadened their range of cuisines - a must try when I am back there.

Regards,

Vinayak
